Words never seem to fail Sushmita Sen. Rather, she never fails with words. Declarations of all kinds from the profound ("It's hard to be me") to the brazen ("Yes, I am fashionable. Very Very fashionable!") are an essential part of any conversation with Sush, as friends know her.
It's her birthday tomorrow and the only thing she's going to be busy with "is being with my dad. This is my best birthday ever. I've got my daddy back from hell," she says.
Her dad has just had a bypass surgery. "I'm going to go the Kalighat Temple in Kolkata and pray," she says. Being religious is just one of her not-so-talked-about virtues. Mystery and she, you see, go well together. So you might be upgrading your gossip quotient with an update on her latest relationship, but she couldn't care less. "I myself can't predict how I am going to react next and I've stopped fighting with it. The one constant in my life is my relationship with myself. I recommend this to everyone," says she.
Her self-proclaimed "eccentric film choices" are not the only thing that keep her busy, leave alone keeping her in the news. "I am not necessarily being choosy. I am part of a race in which I am part of a race in which I am the only participant. My friends always tell me I am not aggressive enough," says Sen.
Ask her about her uncanny knack of dressing in style and she says, "If the fashion gurus scream that 'pastels are in' from the rooftops, I will go ahead and wear a deep maroon because I feel good in it," Want to be fashionable? "Wear your individuality on your sleeve." Don't ignore this. It is coming from a pro.
