Gul Panag, a native of Chandigarh in Northwestern India, was named Femina Miss India Universe, beating out 25 beautiful delegates. This 5'6" Punjabi girl came from a military family, and had spent time in Africa during her youth. Her best assets are her dimples, which by many were seen to be her key to the crown .
On May 26th, 1999, Gul Kirit Panag became the eighth consecutive Miss India to place in the semi-finals of the Miss Universe Pageant. Gul Panag was a huge favorite for the international title amongst 84 delegates.
In the semi-finalist interview competition, Gul was paired with Miss Mexico Silvia Salgado. Charming the audience with eloquence and a good joke, she carried away an easy first place.
After completing her reign, Gul pursue music videos and ad. films and fashion. She had done
one TV soap in 2003 named 'Kashmir'.
She had debut in films from Parth Arora's Dhoop in 2003 opposite Sanjay Suri.
