Here's a world class Indian!
He hit headlines with Mr India many moons ago and then struck a heavy vein of controversy with his Bandit Queen. Then, after a slew of un-made films, well, the announcements were made, we must admit, Shekhar Kapur took off to explore the bigger canvas of international cinema, winning accolades for his Elizabeth. And then once again, there were announced, A Long Walk To Freedom, based on Nelson Mandela's life; Paani, on the water crisis in India; a sequel to Elizabeth, Krishna, Golden Age, Buddha, Mantra (with Preity Zinta)... the list could go on if we added rumours and hearsay to it. But Kapur just laughs when confronted with what has not happened. He says, "The scripts are getting ready. Paani will be my next film. And as for the Mandela film, when I met him, he asked me to show the truth in my movie. Given the politics around him, one has to be very careful. That's why we are taking time with the film." Wonder if he has heard the old proverb "Time waits for no man!" But then Shekhar is no ordinary man, wot say?
