A kiss is just a kiss? Nah, in these days of supersizing meals and enhanced lifestyles, a buss here, a peck there are more than what meets the eye. Forget the handwriting analysis, check out your kissing karma. The white coated guys from the philematology lab tell us that the way you turn during a kiss is determined in the womb. Most kissing partners prefer to tilt towards the right. Onur Gunturkun, a professor at the Ruhr-University of Bochum in Germany, came to this conclusion after spying on 224 kissing couples. The right-tilting preference, Gunturkun said, is likely to be formed in the womb. He suggests that during the final weeks of gestation babies develop behavioural asymmetry, a preference towards turning their heads to the left or the right.
Kissing has all sorts of physiological effects. The pulse rate goes up, blood pressure rises, the pupils in the eyes get bigger and the partners breathe more deeply.
Just how you smooch could also draw the fine line between Latin Lovah and Loser. Heading straight for the tonsils with the tussle muscle is the oral equivalent of wham-bam-thank-you maam. Unless you have the flamboyance and attitude of a swaggering Colin Farrell. If not, slink back and brush up on some kama techiques, suggest experts, till you get lucky next time.
