Kabhi films, Kabhie TV...
His last directorial venture was Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, his last production Kal Ho Na Ho. Karan Johar is now readying his next project and also making a foray into TV. Delhi Times catches up with the filmmaker...
Direction ya production?
"For my next project, I'm trying to organise a joint script-hearing session. I want to be able to devote time to both direction and production so that there are no him drances. Production is the heart of any film set-up and for a film house to do well, its heart should beat well. Between the two, I enjoy direction. Production is a thankless job. Anyone who says he enjoys production should get his head examined!"
Script bole toh... "I'm in the process of writing a script. Once everything is in place, I will reveal the details."
TV mein fresher: "Oh God! The first time I shot for TV, it was awful. I just didn't like the way I looked. People would tell me the makeup was shining and I should tone it down or dab my nose a little. Hey! I'm used to saying all this to my heroines, not hear it myself! Also, since I hate seeing my own pictures, TV was a completely different experience, more so because, being the focus of attention visually was a little strange. Now, though, I've got into the groove of things and we're well settled."
Small screen da jawab nahin: "As a medium, TV has really come of age in the past decade. TV's reach is tremendous, it's a really powerful medium and here to stay. There was a time when people said TV was the future; we'll, we're living in the future now."
